Project redecorate is complete!

So we finally completed my daughter’s room this weekend.  Yeah!

We pretty much had everything ready but were waiting on the mattress.  I got a call Friday saying it was in though it was supposed to be delivered today.

The husband picked it up Saturday and I was so excited to get it all complete…but lo and behold, the foundation was way too high! My daughter would have to get a step stool to get on to her bed.

I was so frustrated to be so close to done that I was going to freak out, lol!  But luckily my husband is a carpenter and just went ahead (with all the scrap wood around) and made slats for the metal bed.

As for the decor, I decided to only buy from one shop because my daughter just loved this print and it matched one that I bought almost 2 years ago.  My daughter is an artist herself so I put a lot of her artwork on display.  I did get her a canvas set of my hummingbirds that I thought added to the room.

I really, really love the paint color and how it brightens her room up now!  So without further ado, check out the new room…

Update on project redecorate

Yeah, so the new paint is up in my daughter’s room!  The artwork is as well but I haven’t taken a photo yet.

I really love this color in her room…makes it look so much better!

AND I am sooooo happy those darn circles are gone :/  If you didn’t see the before, check this post out.

Curious about how I am decorating it, check out my pinboard here.

Project Redecorate My Daughter’s room

My project to redecorate my daughter’s room commences tomorrow and I am totally unprepared.

I bought a few new storage items from Land of Nod and that was going to be it really.  Then my mom said she would buy her a new bed, what?!  Time for some serious redecorating instead.

I honestly do not know what I was thinking when I decided to paint her room this lime green color (my son unfortunately has the same color) as well as two giant pink circles :/

Well it has been four years and I am so over it!  She also has a full sized IKEA bed which unfortunately has fallen apart too many times…hence the new bed from grandma (which will be a twin).

So my dilemma is, new storage and bed will be here by Tuesday and I haven’t painted the walls yet…or gotten a mattress…or gotten rid of the old bed 😦

Some photos to help visually with my dilemma…

Best freakin’ cookie ever

I keep coming back to this same cookie recipe.  It is the bomb I tell ya, the bomb!

Why?  Well there are several reasons…

1. Super easy to make.

2. It is dairy free!

3.  It contains peanut butter

4.  and chocolate!

5.  did I mention it is super easy to make?

6.  Gluten and flour free 🙂

Here is a shot of them and the recipe to follow.  I have adapted it from Martha Stewart as I don’t think it needs peanuts nor the chocolate chips.

best-cookie-ever

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter (I used Adams natural)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (I actually skipped the salt)
  • Baker’s semi-sweet baking chocolate squares (I used two but one is fine…chop with a knife)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, with racks in upper and lower thirds. In a large bowl, stir together 1 cup creamy peanut butter, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 large egg (lightly beaten), 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon salt until well combined. Stir in semisweet chocolate shavings.
  2. With moistened hands, roll dough, about 1 heaping tablespoon at a time, into balls. Place 2 inches apart on two baking sheets.
  3. Bake until cookies are golden and puffed, 12 to 14 minutes, rotating sheets from top to bottom and front to back halfway through. Cool 5 minutes on sheets; transfer cookies to racks to cool completely.

Try them out and let me know what you think!

Happy Monday ya’ll 😀

The Sketchbook Project 2013

Eeek!  I am actually going to send off my sketchbook along with my daughter’s tomorrow!!

I received it months ago but agonized over what to put in it…actually I got one for my daughter first and then was convinced by a friend to do one as well.  Since they have a photolog category, I thought why not.

I decided to do one where I took 3 photos and edited them 4 different ways…check out the sneak peek:

I just took pics of my daughter’s so I don’t have them loaded up yet.  She was so excited to know that her sketchbook would be going to New York and that in July we can see our sketchbooks again in Portland at the Ace Hotel.

I am excited to share this project with my seven year old whom at one point I thought would never sit down and color…

Project 52: A Place in Time

I have joined some lovely ladies in recording the changes of one spot over the course of a year.  I know I failed miserably in documenting 52 weeks of self portraits.  I am hoping this will work out much better…

I chose a view from the corner of my garden.  It is a lovely little spot where the birds congregate and converse.  I imagine them having wonderful conversations…or rather they are moving in the hustle and bustle of bird life like city folk moving down a New York street and in and out of cafes.

I love this spot and what we have made it into over the last few years; a bird sanctuary.  There are quite a few species to see at any given time…chickadees, nuthatches, Oregon juncos, Stellar jays, Scrub jays, spotted towhees, finches, sparrows, hummingbirds, and more.  An occasional hawk will fly through.  I have even see the Northern Pygmy owl once!

I am excited to document the changes of this little area.  We planted high bush cranberries for the birds as well as currant and service berry…along with the elderberry tree.  So plenty of changing colors to come!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoy the changes to come in this little view:
