So we finally completed my daughter’s room this weekend. Yeah!
We pretty much had everything ready but were waiting on the mattress. I got a call Friday saying it was in though it was supposed to be delivered today.
The husband picked it up Saturday and I was so excited to get it all complete…but lo and behold, the foundation was way too high! My daughter would have to get a step stool to get on to her bed.
I was so frustrated to be so close to done that I was going to freak out, lol! But luckily my husband is a carpenter and just went ahead (with all the scrap wood around) and made slats for the metal bed.
As for the decor, I decided to only buy from one shop because my daughter just loved this print and it matched one that I bought almost 2 years ago. My daughter is an artist herself so I put a lot of her artwork on display. I did get her a canvas set of my hummingbirds that I thought added to the room.
I really, really love the paint color and how it brightens her room up now! So without further ado, check out the new room…
About Claudia (from her website):
Born in Bielefeld, Germany, I was interested in visual arts i.e. drawing and painting from a young age. Sparked by my father’s photography when I was a child, this quickly kindled into my own love for photography as a teenager. Starting with a simple camera and film in the 80′s, I later developed my own black & white photos, before joining the digital age in the new millennia. I am very proud to be 100 % self-taught both in photography and in digital developing.
Since the early 90s I have traveled the world, living in Australia, Switzerland, Germany, Bonaire, and the USA. Enjoying new countries, their cultures, their nature, their architecture, whilst always looking for the best perspective to take a photo, to preserve the precious memory of a moment. Hence, photos of architecture, nature, sports, food, plus digital development are my specialty.
Published – I am a passionate photographer and windsurfer and very proud that
– a selection of my windsurf action shots of freestyle windsurfing on Bonaire were published in the American Windsport Magazine. (Here is my blogpost with pictures of the magazine)
– and my photo ‘Into the Light’ was selected to be part of the quarterly photo magazine fPOE collective
My latest project, on the never ending road to improving my skills, are natural light portraits. This includes families, couples, singles, children and pets. If you are interested, I am always looking for models, please contact me.
Here are a few of my fave photos from her Etsy shop:
1- this black and white is gorgeous.
2- This beach scene makes me want to grab my bathing suit and head to the coast!
3- Lovely tones in this one.

Eeek! I am actually going to send off my sketchbook along with my daughter’s tomorrow!!
I received it months ago but agonized over what to put in it…actually I got one for my daughter first and then was convinced by a friend to do one as well. Since they have a photolog category, I thought why not.
I decided to do one where I took 3 photos and edited them 4 different ways…check out the sneak peek:
I just took pics of my daughter’s so I don’t have them loaded up yet. She was so excited to know that her sketchbook would be going to New York and that in July we can see our sketchbooks again in Portland at the Ace Hotel.
I am excited to share this project with my seven year old whom at one point I thought would never sit down and color…
for Valentine’s Day
thanks Wyoming Creative for the title!
I have joined some lovely ladies in recording the changes of one spot over the course of a year. I know I failed miserably in documenting 52 weeks of self portraits. I am hoping this will work out much better…
I chose a view from the corner of my garden. It is a lovely little spot where the birds congregate and converse. I imagine them having wonderful conversations…or rather they are moving in the hustle and bustle of bird life like city folk moving down a New York street and in and out of cafes.
I love this spot and what we have made it into over the last few years; a bird sanctuary. There are quite a few species to see at any given time…chickadees, nuthatches, Oregon juncos, Stellar jays, Scrub jays, spotted towhees, finches, sparrows, hummingbirds, and more. An occasional hawk will fly through. I have even see the Northern Pygmy owl once!
I am excited to document the changes of this little area. We planted high bush cranberries for the birds as well as currant and service berry…along with the elderberry tree. So plenty of changing colors to come!
Happy Monday ya’ll 😀
Phew! Two things, 1-I am writing a blog post and 2-the fPOE Collective volume 04 is published!!
I really, really, really, really mean to be on top of posting this year. Like having posts written on Sunday to do out during the week…sounds like a dream doesn’t it?! Any hoo, at least I accomplished finishing up Volume 04 though a tad late 😦
I hope everyone is having wonderful start to the New Year!!
