Mosaic Monday: Hatchling surprise!

My husband and daughter found a couple of cocoons near our garlic beds a few weeks ago.  We all assumed they would be butterflies or moths.  We didn’t know nor did we look up the type of cocoon.  Alas, they hatched this saturday!  My husband actually ran into the house shouting, “The cocoons hatched!  They are praying mantises!”  It was so cute to see my daughter’s reaction.  She was just as excited and ran outside as fast as she could.  I am so happy that my daughter even though she has gotten more girlie (this was the day of her ballet recital), she still has interest in the natural world.  Check out the mosaic below for the cutest little praying mantis hatchlings!

Mosaic Monday: my little girl

My little girl is growing up so fast!  This thursday we are headed to a bbq orientation/registration for kindergarten.  Kindergarten.  Already.  Insane.  What happen to my chubby little girl who liked to swing from trees, pick up dead snakes off the road, and go around topless?  She has turned into a beautiful young girl who loves to dance, sing, and make believe.  She loves to entertain and sound out words.  She is amazing and I hope she stays amazed at the world (and listens to her teachers!).  Here’s to growing up!

So Excited!

When I opened my shop on Etsy, I had no idea what to expect.  I started joining teams and adding people to my circle, just hoping for that first sale.  I haven’t gotten many sales…but I have met some awesome people!  I am pretty involved in the female photographers of etsy team and glad I signed up in time because we have been busy putting together a book.  This is so exciting for me!  I submitted six photos and they were:

I really love my Life as Chairs photo…don’t know why really.  But it just seems so peaceful like they are having a conversation that know one else can join in.
